News: Soulplace is a place for the discussion of faith and doubt, beliefs and questions. Originally set up by a group in the UK in or near the Christian tradition, it is intended to be a place for people of all sorts of faith backgrounds to meet and discover what we hold in common and where we differ. We want it to be a space to find understanding, encouragement and challenge, and to learn the hard lessons of respect and honesty. We welcome pilgrims, explorers, reckless adventurers and the hopelessly lost.

Interesting what he says, that it is more honorable to offer his critique from outside the church than inside it.  It seems that, for some, there comes a point where they have to say "I will do what I believe to be right and I can no longer allow myself to feel compromised by the loyalties of my role within a homophobic institution".   It's an honorable position to take.

There are others who stay on the inside and subvert, and they too choose a path for similar goals with differing reasoning, in some ways I guess that can be an even harder path to follow.

I don't know how I'd feel in his situation.  I expect I'd do what he's done.  I hope he finds a livelihood in his chosen path.
