News: Soulplace is a place for the discussion of faith and doubt, beliefs and questions. Originally set up by a group in the UK in or near the Christian tradition, it is intended to be a place for people of all sorts of faith backgrounds to meet and discover what we hold in common and where we differ. We want it to be a space to find understanding, encouragement and challenge, and to learn the hard lessons of respect and honesty. We welcome pilgrims, explorers, reckless adventurers and the hopelessly lost.

No doubt the story will receive more publicity if it is true.  But I find it entirely possible.

Sad, isn't it, that the organization which claims to be the Body of Christ has got itself into such a mess that reports such as that one are actually believable?  Poor Jesus must be spinning in his grave.

Another report with much more detail today. Ghastly.

Will the RC church ever adopt a less arrogant tone in the light of its failings?

I wonder what you'd have to cut off to cure the RC Church of its arrogance... Mind you, the higher clergy are doing a more than adequate job of amputating their own credibilty.

Thanks everyone.

I did find the story theoretically beleivable -so many terrible things happened in WW2 and since etc.

But there was something about the website which sounded some kind of warning bell for me.  somehow.

i have worked under an Irish govt scheme giving counselling to people my age and older abused in 'orphanages' and schools etc run by religious orders of men and women in Eire.  So I'm up for believing almost anything alas...

Even my 'ordinary' state school in UK used a lot of humiliation and physical beatings with the cane, hand or slipper and we had parents to (in theory) speak up for us

Was the car crash death convenient ?

What has become of the others ?

I notice they were in some kind of orphanage or institution.

Neither Church nor state come out well in the film

The Leaving of Liverpool.

A lot of class bias too.  Along with the mysogeny and failure to apprecaite or tresaure the children
