I think I'm in recovery, though I'm afraid I've been backsliding a bit recently and am all too familiar with the current tensions between Ruth and David, for instance.

I used to watch Emmerdale Farm, back in the days before it dropped the 'Farm' and the story-lines became ludicrous. I like to think that it was for the same reason that I watched 'Ballykissangel' - the scenery was pleasant and familiar, and I could play 'Spot the Location'. It's not easy to do that on 'The Archers', so I don't bother with it...

I have listened to the Archers from the very first episode when I was in my pram. I met several of the cast a good few years ago, and have had some e-mail correspondence with Tim Bentinck.

What appeals to me about the Archers is you can follow it without being an addict. Listening to about one episode in 5 seems adequate. I fear for Elizabeth now Nigel is no longer there to redeem her.

Yes on and off since it was on just after milking time on the farm and they included farming information from the Ministry of Agriculture. Then mostly, then now and then, then not at all, then always, and now once in a blue moon - it depends - but like MQ says, one can pick up straight away.

The Archers is theology? Does that make Vanessa Whitbourn God, in Ambridge at least?

Indeed, Seeka. Bring back Nigel Pargetter! I don't like what she's doing to David at the moment, either.

Really? Which channel do you watch on? I must admit I still listen pretty regularly, but if they mess with it too much I don't think I will.

Am i the only addict ?! no ... i've been listening well over 40 years .. since it was on before "listen with mother" in the afternoon. grandad used to switch on the wireless early so the valves had time to warm up and we'd catch the archers whilst we were waiting
